To celebrate 2014 Year of the Bus, Transport for London teamed up with Wild in Art to create a series of the new Thomas Heatherwick Routemaster sculptures as a bus trail around London. We are very proud to say that included in the 60 sculptures created by artists and designers, are two Mini Moderns designs. Some of you may recognise our ‘Hold Tight’ wallpaper design, faithfully reproduced by hand by Jane Headford. Our other design, based on our Year of the Bus product ranges for London Transport Museum, is ‘Push Once’which was realised for us by artist Sophie Green.
Other notable artists and designers were Orla Kiely, Cath Kidson, Crispin Finn and Rod Hunt.
The trail kicked off on Friday with a launch in Trafalgar Square which was the last time that all the buses will be seen together. The sculptures then took their places on the trail.
‘Hold Tight’ will be at the Olympic Park, while you can spot ‘Push Once’ at Cheapside.
At the end of the tour the buses will all be auctioned with proceeds going towards charities Kids Company, Transaid and London Transport Museum. So if you fancy owning one of them – look out for the auction dates.
In the meantime check out the maps for the locations of all the buses here:
